AKC Pee Wees: Youngsters Have Fun at Dog Shows

Parents often bring their young children to dog shows only to find them bored and undoubtedly glued to their electronic devices. One AKC judge recognized this problem about five years ago and sought a diversion to capture their interest. Thanks to his persistence, children ages five to nine now can participate in pee wee classes at AKC shows nationwide. And they love doing so!

Reading to Rover

Reading to Rover programs offer a fun way for children to build confidence and reading skills. Each week at the Buena Vista, Colorado Public Library, youngsters read out loud to their canine listener, seemingly oblivious to the dog’s handler and library patrons. The children look forward to the free program and so do the participating dogs and handlers!
